Manteno School District is testing a new digital signage platform to modernize its communication capabilities across schools. For years, the district has relied on Chrome Sign Builder to display essential announcements and real-time updates, but recent feedback from IT staff has prompted a search for more advanced solutions. As a result, the district is piloting ViewSonic Signage Manager, a platform offering greater flexibility and improved display options.
An anonymous administrative assistant at Manteno noted, “Chrome Sign Builder has served us well, but we need a system that can keep up with the growing demands of our district. The new platform gives us better control over scheduling and allows for more customization in the way information is presented.” The shift reflects a broader trend in education, where schools are investing in enhanced digital solutions to engage students, staff, and parents more effectively.
The district’s current partnership with ViewSonic, a company known for its interactive ViewBoards used in classrooms, makes the transition to ViewSonic Signage Manager a logical next step. “Because we already use ViewSonic ViewBoards across the district, the signage system integrates well with our existing hardware,” stated Cameron Ashby, Technology Specialist, at Manteno School District. This integration allows the district to simplify system management and consolidate resources.
Ashby, also Manteno’s AV Engineer, has been instrumental in testing the new platform. He highlighted some key benefits over Chrome Sign Builder, particularly regarding customization and automation. “Chrome Sign Builder is great for basic needs, but we’re finding that it doesn’t offer the flexibility and longevity we’re looking for,” Ashby explained. “With ViewSonic Signage Manager, we can automate updates and change layouts depending on the event or message, which makes it easier to keep content relevant and engaging.”
Ashby emphasized that ViewSonic’s software could enable district staff to create dynamic schedules and adjust the digital signage with minimal effort, saving time while enhancing the quality of communications across the school system. “Our goal is to make sure parents, students, and staff are always informed in real time, especially when it comes to important announcements and event reminders,” he added.
The IT Department expects to finalize its decision on the new platform in the coming months after reviewing feedback from staff and assessing compatibility with existing systems. For more information, visit ViewSonic Signage Manager.
